By using an extension in your usual browser, you can find the digital collections of the library without needing to go to MetSearch first. Switch on our extension today, search for eBooks and articles and enjoy seamless access to excellent academic content.

What are browser extensions?

These give you access to quality academic content directly in your usual browser without having to manually check for access elsewhere (such as MetSearch or Google Scholar). They link up directly with our collections and give you access to the 1000s of digital books and journal articles we offer.

We make available an extension that all staff and students within Cardiff Met can download and make full use of - LibKey Nomad.

LibKey Nomad can be switched on and off via the 'extensions' option within your browser settings – however, it is perfectly possible to leave it switched on and it will ‘pop up’ when necessary.

LibKey Nomad

LibKey Nomad offers single click access to the digital collections of the library. The extension is available for most internet browsers – download it now.

Use LibKey Nomad to access articles and eBooks from the library collections without searching for them again elsewhere. LibKey Nomad will notify you when access is available via a handy notification alert. It will also augment your experience of using certain databases and within Wikipedia (by giving you direct access to academic material referenced).

The video below provides a short walkthrough. It shows an example of accessing a journal article directly from a search and accessing a library eBooks via Amazon. It also shows the augmentation that LibKey Nomad offers in an example database and Wikipedia.
